ADD/ADHD Coaching Support For Parents
As a parent of a child, adolescent or teen with ADD/ADHD, you fully understand the different kinds of disruption that your child’s behavior creates at every stage of development.
ADD/ADHD affects 8-12% of school-aged children, contributing to many of the interruptions in classrooms, organized sports or social groups. Many of these children struggle with everything from hyperactivity and impulsivity, to self-regulating their emotions and behavior.
Classic examples of living with an ADD/ADHD child are brilliantly illustrated by a couple of popular animated movies. The flash-distraction behavior of the talking dogs saying, “Squirrel!” in “UP!” and the confused, amusing Dori, the fish with the short term memory issues in “Finding Nemo”.
While entertaining in an animated film, living with this level of distractibility is an entirely different story. With ADD/ADHD random distractibility at a young age cannot necessarily be expected to stop as the child matures. Many adults exhibit “Squirrel!” behavior, also considered “Shiny Object Syndrome”, which can divert attention in a blink of an eye.
Parents have a critically important role in helping their children navigate and manage their ADD/ADHD. It’s a family challenge that can’t be left to teachers, doctors or therapists to fix. Children with ADD/ADHD need the guidance, love, understanding and acceptance that only a parent can give. Learning and correction must be delivered at the point-of-performance, putting parents in the driver’s seat.
I teach parents how to coach their children for improved performance and success. I have protocols, models and proven tailored systems that can be customized to assist you in better understanding and leading your child to develop new habits, self-confidence, and lifelong practices that can be utilized well into adulthood.
